IlliniRide Terms of Service

Acceptance of Terms

By downloading and using IlliniRide, you agree to these Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use our service.

Eligibility

To use IlliniRide, you must:

• Be 18 years of age or older
• Have valid University of Illinois affiliation (student, faculty, or staff)
• Possess a valid driver's license (for drivers)
• Not be prohibited from using transportation services

Account Responsibilities

You are responsible for:

• Providing accurate and truthful information
• Maintaining current contact information
• Safeguarding your account credentials
• One account per person
• Immediate notification of security breaches

Driver Requirements

Drivers must:

• Have a valid driver's license and vehicle insurance
• Pass background checks and verification
• Maintain a safe driving record
• Adhere to all traffic laws
• Keep vehicle in safe operating condition

Rider Responsibilities

Riders must:

• Provide accurate trip booking information
• Make timely payments for services
• Behave respectfully toward drivers
• Comply with safety guidelines
• Not damage driver's vehicle

Prohibited Activities

You may not:

• Create fraudulent bookings or payments
• Misrepresent identity or qualifications
• Transport illegal substances or weapons
• Harass or discriminate against other users
• Violate traffic laws during trips
• Use the service for commercial transportation

Payment Processing

• All payments processed securely through Stripe
• 10% service fee applies to all transactions
• Refunds subject to cancellation policy
• Drivers receive payment after trip completion
• Charge disputes handled through Stripe

Trip Cancellation

• Cancellations must be made at least 2 hours before pickup
• Late cancellations may incur fees
• No-shows are charged full fare
• Drivers may cancel for safety reasons

Safety and Conduct

• Real-time location sharing during trips
• Both parties must follow safety guidelines
• Report safety concerns immediately
• Cooperate with support investigations

Privacy and Data

• Location data shared only with trip participants
• Verification documents processed securely
• No sale of personal data to third parties

Intellectual Property

• IlliniRide owns all app intellectual property
• Users retain rights to their content
• Limited license to use user content for service provision
• No reverse engineering or app modification

Limitation of Liability

• Platform acts as intermediary, not transportation provider
• Not responsible for driver/rider interactions
• No liability for third-party actions
• Use at your own risk
• Maximum liability limited to service fees paid

Termination

• IlliniRide may suspend accounts for violations
• Users may delete accounts at any time
• Immediate termination for illegal activities
• Survival clauses for termination

Dispute Resolution

• Good faith negotiation first
• Mediation for unresolved disputes
• Arbitration in Champaign County, Illinois
• No class action lawsuits
• Governing law: State of Illinois

Service Availability

• Service provided "as is" without warranties
• No guarantee of driver availability
• IlliniRide may modify or discontinue features
• Not responsible for third-party service interruptions
